A Perishable Foods Tracking and Monitoring Model

This paper, developed for a client in the meat distribution industry, describes in that context a tracking and monitoring solution that is generally applicable to the broader "perishable products" industries and their supply chain logistics. Meat Distribution Tracking has three distinct areas of interest, tracking the animal from birth to slaughter, slaughter to bulk distribution, and bulk distribution to end customer delivery. The underlying technologies that address the needs of each of these areas can be integrated in any combination into segmented or end-to-end seamless solutions. This overview will describe a perspective of the general tracking and management concepts of the three areas of interest, paying particular attention to the slaughter to bulk distribution segment, and provide a general discussion of important system network aspects.
